https://preview.tinyurl.com/y6xwncnlEver since I was a young kid I've LOVED Christmas. It's literally my favorite time of the year. The funny part is I was raised Jewish. My grandmother's family was Jewish for the most part... a few Italians thrown in the mix. She was a non-traditionalist though and celebrated both Chanukah and Christmas. My favorite part of the season was decorating the house. I would start on the day after Halloween and finish within a week. I put lights EVERYWHERE. Since it was only the two of us, I kinda got away with whatever I wanted... when I was done it almost looked like Santa's workshop threw up in our living room... but it's OK! It made me happy. Christmas to this day makes me extremely happy and puts a giant smile on my face. The holiday season in its entirety means a lot to me because I LOVE seeing people happy. It's something about this time of year that really puts a lot of people in a good mood and I enjoy it.
I can't begin to tell you how much work it was and how much stress it brought to my life. I knew what the end game was, but having never organized something like that before, I hadn't a clue how to execute it. Baptism by fire! The hardest part? Working with the City. At the time, I had a friend in the Mayor's office - Don Guardian - who helped me in every way he could. It wouldn't have been possible without him getting involved and I will forever be appreciative of his efforts, and his love for Atlantic City.
